Hey Wood Nature Reserve

The story of my own bird photography reserve I’m building here in Wiltshire.

Reserve Update: 24th February 2021

Very little progress to report on projects at the reserve due to the national coronavirus lockdown and a flare up a long term back problem I have.

Away from the reserve I’ve mad six nest boxes in readiness for the arrival of several spring migrants: common redstart, pied flycatcher and spotted flycatcher. I hoping they’ll nest at the reserve this year.

I’ve also modified a a garden shed to become a hide. Once erected in the woodland glade, this will be used for the tawny owl nighttime photography project.

Walking around the reserve I’ve notice a buzzard flying around regularly and the visit of a new species: a beautiful little marsh tit.
